Red Dress Ball

"Fun and Fundraising" at Red Dress Ball, May 16, 2008; our 1930's themed event will feature a Red Carpet entrance hosted by Metro News' Catherine Barr and Vancouver's Drag Queen extraordinaire Joan-E, as well as entertainment by Five Alarm Funk and Sweet Soul Burlesque. The evening, including a Fashion Show, will be hosted by Symone. Amazing prizes at the evening's Silent Auction will await you and allow the GLBA to meet the event’s goal is to raise $20K for the GLBA Foundation’s Youth Scholarship Fund.

The GLBA and the Founding Sponsors for this event, TD Canada Trust and KPMG invite you to get your tickets early at Ticket Master. Regular tickets are $63. Reserved table seating (blocks of 5 tickets at $100/ticket) next to the Fashion Show catwalk are available by contacting Barry at the GLBA office.

GLBA Foundation (the Foundation)

  • The Foundation was incorporated on February 17, 2006 under incorporation number S0050283. Created by the GLBA of BC as a registered charitable organization directed and administered by the GLBA of BC.
  • The Foundation expands on the GLBA mandate to demonstrate social responsibility to nurture future community leaders
  • The Foundation provides scholarships to the youth of our community in BC with the scholarship criteria based on both potential and achievements of a candidate who self identifies as a member of our community
  • The GLBA and GLBA Foundation's Red Dress Ball is the primary fundraising event raising funds for the Foundation.
  • The aim is to provide financial assistance and mentoring opportunities to worthy individuals
  • The Foundation mirrors the success of a similar program in Seattle where the Greater Seattle Business Association has awarded more than 200 scholarships totaling over $550,000US over the last 17 years.
  • Activities to raise funds include a signature event; The Red Dress Ball, a high-end gala event and the follow up Awards Dinner where the recipients of the scholarships will be announced and scholarships presented.
  • Throughout the year other fund raising events will be on going
  • The scholarship program will provide many good opportunities for sponsorships, donations and partnerships for GLBA members.
  • To be successful, volunteers and dedicated GLBA members will be needed
  • The scholarship is the first function of the GLBA Foundation, with future possible missions including the provision of support for seniors in our community.
