Name: Ed Lee, GLBA Co-Chair Business Name: Vancity Insurance Board Member: 5th year as a Board Director Volunteering for the GLBA provides another interesting dimension to my life. The challenge that we face as a Board this year is to increase the proposition for members to join and to remain members. Membership in the GLBA must mean more than a rainbow flag stuck on the door of your business, there must be a proposition that resonates with our membership. To meet this challenge I invite members to provide input to a code of ethics that we as members should abide. This code should include how we as GLBA members will better not only our local Queer community but our neighbourhoods, cities, province and country. I will continue to manage and provide the GLBA’s Group Benefits program that provides extended health and dental benefits to sole entrepreneurs, small businesses and community organizations. I am excited with this new Board and look forward to making great advances.+ Name: Lisa Voldeng, GLBA Co-Chair Business Name: sugarlab corp. “ CEO & Chief Creative Officer; ultra-future corp., Principal Board Member: 4th year as a Board Director. I bring with me expertise as an internationally recognized strategist and entrepreneur. Initially engaged in development in the telecommunications and advanced technology industries, primarily in Silicon Valley, I ultimately focused on market strategy and analysis. Working with Fortune 500 firms, I advised them how to adapt their strategies to profit in disruptive markets, namely at the intersect of media, technology and culture. In 1998 I founded digital mogul, a California-based market research firm. In late 2001 my homing beacon kicked in and I returned to Canada with my lovely American wife, happy to be back on more equitable soil. In 2002 I founded sugarlab corp., a Vancouver-based new media company with interactive, publishing, music and merchandising initiatives based on its flagship überbabe superhero brand. Since my return to the motherland I've been active, locally and internationally, supporting various social responsibility initiatives, from human to corporate to environmental. As I like to say, "if what we think, we create – then what future are we creating now?"

Having spent many years in Hospitality, I have learned a wide ranged skill set. I started my first business, a U-Brew, at 27 years of age. My second venture, a Doggy-Daycare was opened while I still had my first business. During my 5 years of balancing the operations of these two businesses, I learned to appreciate the importance of team work. Board Director:1st year as a Board Director. Fall 2006 I became self-employed and recognized that flexibility in my work schedule was a new characteristic for me. I decided that a great way to take advantage of this flexibility would be to volunteer. The GLBA was one of my first choices and I am very excited to be on the board. I want to contribute in ways that will help strengthen and build the membership. Living and working in Vancouver for the last 16 sixteen years has been wonderful and it is definitely my home. My business experience is focused on sales and management. A key skill that I bring is relationship building. I look forward to working with other GLBA board members, members and non-members. I'm proud to be a part of this wonderfully diverse organization. Name: Laura Kloppenburg, Business Name: sugarlab corp. Board Member: 1st year as a Board Director. To the Board of the GLBA of BC, I offer extensive finance & operational management expertise, and intend to focus my efforts on ensuring efficiency of systems and effectiveness of tools for a community organization into which I'm proud to make a contribution. I want this board to be informed and empowered by meaningful financial information, that is ready at their fingertips, and with which they are comfortable interacting. One of the GLBA's top priorities is ensuring that its use of funds is transparent and at its most beneficial to its membership; I will pour all of my knowledge and passion for "making things work", on a fiscal and operational level, into assisting the organization to continue to fulfill that promise. Name: Barry Goheen Business Name; Barry Goheen Designs. I enjoy nothing more than connecting GLBA members to each other and helping foster new business relationships. In my "spare" time, I work with my garden design business, Barry Goheen Designs. I am excited about growth prospects for the GLBA this coming year and happy to answer any questions you might have about the exciting possibilities that abound as a member of the GLBA.
